NRL round 15 schedule, 2021 title odds update
This Dragons-Raiders clash is important because both of these teams have designs on playing finals football and a loss here would be a huge to their chances. They sit in ninth and 10th places respectively.
Canberra have won their past three matches against the Dragons, including two of them at Wollongong. In their two meetings in 2020, the Raiders won 22-16 in Canberra and then 37-8 at this ground.
But the Raiders are far from the fearsome force they were then, although an easy win over the hapless Broncos last week has Green Machine fans hopeful they have turned the corner.
The Dragons are a side to get a handle on, but if you judge them on their pitiful display against the bottom-placed Bulldogs last week you would not give them much chance of winning this match.
Dragons v Raiders team news for round 15
The Dragons bring halfback Adam Clune into their 17 at the expense of teenage playmaker Talatau Amone, but they will have to wait at least another week to regain boom centre Zac Lomax (thumb injury).
Ace fullback Matt Dufty (shoulder) has been named but is in doubt, with rising young star Tyrell Sloan on standby to take his place.
Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has stuck with the 17 that did the job against the Broncos, with tough second-rower Hudson Young among the reserves.

Canberra -4.5 points/match total under 46.5 at $3.90.
This double is available at TopSport and should give you a good sight. The Dragons will be chastened by their poor showing against the Dogs, and they are on home soil here against a team that has often disappointed this season. But the Raiders are slowly finding the form that took them deep into the finals the past few years and they can’t afford to drop this one or their season could really fall away.
Jack Wighton to score 2+ tries
We will have a small bet on the Canberra playmaker to get among the tries in this. He looms as a towering figure in this game and he seems to relish responsibility. Wighton has scored three tries in 12 appearances but we will back him to open the floodgates. He is such a powerful runner.
St George Illawarra Dragons v Canberra Raiders prediction 19-6-2021
These teams appear head in different directions at this mid-stage of the season, though the Dragons have already show they are capable of surprise performances against the odds under coach Anthony Griffin. They will no doubt bounce back hard after their wake-up call against Canterbury. This match is set to be played in the wet and the Raiders are well accustomed to playing in cold, miserable conditions in Canberra. They should have too much zip, and have a couple of wonderful attacking players at dummy-half in Josh Hodgson and his back-up Tom Starling to steer the big boppers around. Our Dragons v Raiders prediction: Raiders to win by 8 points.
